How can data improve participation in elections?
Seabourne helped us to develop a brand-new data set measuring for the first time where and how people participate in local elections.

Our democracy depends on participation, yet most people who are registered don't vote, especially those in minority and disadvantaged communities. Understanding where and why people don't participate is a complex challenge which we have experience exploring.
We've worked extensively with different voter and voting participation data. We helped the Knight foundation and Portland State University develop a new data set of local voting patterns. We worked with Voto Latino to create data and a mobile application to help underserved populations find and use voting resources. We continue to explore how civic participation and voting are key factors in creating equitable and healthy societies.
