The Global Power Plant Emissions data set is an estimate of the GHG emissions of all power plants worldwide. The data set is based on the World Resources Institute's Global Power Plant Emissions data set. The data provides yearly estimates for CO2, NOx, SOx and Methane emissions for individual power plants, along with generating capacity, plant type and location information.

The data set was created using a multi-level regression model to estimate emissions for different pollutants based on plant type, age, technology and country of origin. Once regression coefficients were identified the multi-level regression model was built to estimate plant emissions based on plant type, age, and average emissions in the country of origin.
